At Scoro, we believe that building strong connections is essential to creating a unified and effective team. With colleagues spread across Estonia, Latvia, the UK, and the US, people can start to feel disconnected. Different time zones and locations can make collaboration and communication more challenging. That’s why we’ve implemented practices to bring us closer together.
One of our favorite traditions is Scoro’s bi-annual Global Week. Twice a year, our team gathers in Tallinn, Estonia, to work, socialize, and strengthen our bonds.
In this post, we’ll give you a quick look at what Scoro Global Week is all about.
What is Scoro Global Week?
As Scoro expanded internationally and adopted a remote and hybrid work model, we recognized the need to bring everyone together. That’s why we created Scoro Global Week—a bi-annual, week-long event held every August and January in Tallinn, Estonia, for all Scoro employees.
During Global Week, we combine work, learning, and social activities to strengthen our bonds and align on our mission and goals. It’s also a unique opportunity to meet our CEO and top management in person, grab a coffee, and ask questions directly.
What’s Happening During Global Week?
Global Week is packed with activities focused on professional development and team bonding. Our internal event team works hard to ensure everyone gets the most out of the experience. While we shake things up each time to keep it fresh and exciting, here’s a glimpse of what to expect.
Opening Day
We kick off Global Week with a relaxed opening event. Our CEO welcomes everyone, and we start with some fun get-to-know-each-other games and snacks. Since many team members have traveled from far away, we keep the first day easy to help everyone settle in and connect.
Company-Wide Brainstorming
Company-wide brainstorming is an event where employees from different teams and locations team up in mixed groups. The goal is to think big, be creative, generate fresh ideas, and solve problems innovatively. It’s also an excellent opportunity to make new connections and build relationships across the company.
Meeting and talking with my global colleagues face-to-face is the most enchanting part of the week. I enjoy the brainstorming sessions, which let me share ideas and collaborate with team members I normally don't have much facetime with. - David Barnard, Service Delivery Manager (US)
Team Training and Events
Our days during Global Week are packed with team training and co-working sessions, making the most of our time together in person. Both internal and external trainers lead sessions aimed at enhancing team collaboration, supporting company growth, and refining our processes. While online learning has become the norm, face-to-face interactions often spark new ideas and build stronger bonds.
In the evenings, we switch gears and have a blast at various fun events like dinners, karaoke, bowling, wine tasting, sauna, and BBQs. We also enjoy friendly football matches and other social activities. These moments of relaxation and fun strengthen our connections and create lasting memories.
Cross-Team Gatherings
We encourage our people to meet and participate in events and activities with other teams.
These gatherings are crucial because they break down silos, enhance communication, and help us better understand each other’s roles and challenges. They remind us that we’re all working toward the same goals and achieve greater success by collaborating and supporting one another.
(Bi-) Annual Review
At the end of Global Week, we hold a half-day all-hands meeting outside the office, where our CEO and management team share key company updates and future plans. This year, we introduced the “CEO Hot Seat”, allowing team members to ask anything they wanted—a fun and engaging way to interact with our leadership. It’s hard not to leave this meeting feeling motivated and excited for what’s next!
The highlight of our all-hands events is the Annual Review, held each January. During this event, we reflect on the past year’s achievements and challenges, set goals for the year ahead, and present the highly anticipated #ScoroAwards to recognize outstanding team members.
Summer and New Year’s Party
At Scoro, we work hard and party hard! The highlight of Global Week is definitely the Scoro party that wraps up the week.
While we celebrate our New Year’s party in the city—either at our Tallinn HQ or another urban venue—we prefer to spend our summer days in the countryside. This lets us showcase Estonia’s beautiful nature and offer our traveling team members a unique experience.
Our Summer Party and New Year’s Party are legendary, each featuring a new theme. These events are a fantastic way to let loose and celebrate together. Creative costumes aren’t just encouraged—they’re expected! And our team never disappoints when it comes to creativity.
Previous summer party themes have included Enchanted Forest, Hippie Festival, Sports Games, and Survivor Days.
The Value of Global Week
Global Week helps us overcome the challenges that distance can create.
In our latest All-Hands meeting, CEO Fred Krieger shared, “One of the best decisions at Scoro has been to keep Global Week twice a year. It’s a chance for our entire team to meet in person, share ideas, and spark creativity. It strengthens relationships and keeps our team motivated.”
The Global Week is like a blast of air to a fire. I get so much energy working side-by-side with team members both new and old. It helps to ignite new ideas and leaves me warm and cozy from those closer team bonds. - Helen Fairley, Service Delivery Manager (UK)
We track our team’s happiness with a monthly pulse survey, and it’s no surprise that we see the highest satisfaction scores right after Global Week.
Here’s to many more Global Weeks to come!
