We’re bringing you a few small but useful usability improvements in the project view this month, from task sorting to updated calculation logic in the budget charts. Consider it a little summer maintenance as we prepare for some bigger updates coming your way.
Task sorting in the project view
You can now sort the task list in the project view based on your preferred criteria to find the relevant tasks faster. Simply click on the respective column name. If the project has phases, the tasks are sorted accordingly within each phase.
Scoro will remember your sorting preference and apply it across all projects.
Budget chart improvements
We’ve improved the accuracy of the budget tracking in the budget charts under Budget > Budget health in the project detailed view. Planned tasks are now reflected in the forecast even if they don’t have set due dates. In such cases, the project end date is used instead to distribute the task value across the future timeline. This helps to keep the forecast accurate from early on. You can understand the budget burn based on planned work even if all tasks don’t have a proper due date yet.
Roles enabled for all sites
We are also enabling roles for all Scoro sites by default to support existing Scoro functionalities, such as role-based bookings, project budgets, and billing. Roles allow you to group your team members based on their skill set, level of seniority, experience, responsibilities, or any other criteria. You can then define hourly charge-out rates for roles to track revenue or use roles in your resource planning workflow.
The enabling of roles doesn’t change anything in your workflows. If you haven’t used roles before, you will simply notice a Placeholder role in various places across your site now. This collects all your users under one role for a start. You can set up roles as you see fit for your team if you want to incorporate them into your workflow.
As a result of this switch, the Modify roles permission will be automatically enabled for all permission sets that have the Modify products/service settings permission enabled.

- Portfolio-level resource planning. Use the portfolio-level resource booking tool to consolidate data from individual projects and understand how booked each role or individual is across projects.
- Cost and profit projections. Forecast the likely project profit while the project is ongoing to proactively adjust the course when costs accumulate too fast.
