January 2025 Version Update: Scoro’s Add-On for Gmail

We’re kicking off 2025 with an exciting new Gmail add-on for everyone spending a lot of time working in their inbox. Designed to save you time by reducing admin work, this add-on lets you effortlessly turn emails into tasks in Scoro, log work time directly from your inbox, and more.

Scoro’s add-on for Gmail

Meet Scoro’s add-on for Gmail – your future favorite tool for managing your Scoro tasks and time entries directly from your Gmail inbox!

With this add-on, you can:

  • Convert emails into actionable tasks within Scoro directly from your inbox
  • Link emails to relevant projects and activity types, ensuring time gets billed correctly
  • Log time spent on emails, ensuring it’s reflected accurately in work reports
  • Pull email threads into Scoro for context and add additional comments via the add-on

By bringing task management directly to Gmail, you do less switching between Gmail and Scoro and can manage your time from the place where you do most of your work and communication—your inbox. Creating tasks via the add-on also means less admin work and time log upkeep later on.

To set up the add-on, install it on your Gmail account and connect it to your Scoro site. Any user on your site can install it individually for their inbox via the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Once set up, open an email and click the Scoro icon on the right-side panel to use the add-on.

To convert your email to a new task, click the Add task button and add basic information about the task, such as the task title and description. You can also specify the activity type and project and set a deadline. Tick the Include e-mail body checkbox if you also want to pull the email contents into Scoro. They will be added to the task description.

Once you add the task, you’ll be set as its assignee. Even if the assignee is changed in Scoro, the task will still be linked to your email thread.

If you already have a task in Scoro, you can link it to your email instead.

Once you’ve done some work related to the email you’re viewing, you can add a time entry by clicking the timer icon. The time logged from Scoro is automatically synced to the add-on as well.

You can also add a comment under the task by clicking the speech bubble icon. The comments added from Gmail appear under the Comments section on the task in Scoro. Comments added from Scoro are also pulled into the Comments section in the add-on.

You can also mark the task as done in the add-on with the checkmark icon and navigate quickly from Gmail to the task detailed and modify views in Scoro by using the eye or pencil icons accordingly.

Once an email is linked with a task, it will remain linked, so you can return to it any time via the add-on simply by opening the email in your inbox.

While you cannot modify the task details from the add-on, you can use the shortcuts in the add-on to open the relevant task in Scoro and modify it there. The changes you make to the task in Scoro (e.g., task name, activity type, description, etc.) will also be automatically reflected in the add-on.
